Community Works Site Supervisor

Position Summary
The Community Works Site Supervisor (Site Supervisor) participates in the Community Schools-YouthWorks joint initiative during the summer months and is responsible for planning and overseeing a group of YouthWorks participants for a five-week period and implementing the International Youth Foundation (IYF) Passport to Success (PTS) curriculum. The site supervisor will directly supervise 15 YouthWorks participants in carrying out work responsibilities at the worksite, either in the school or in the neighboring community.

Essential Functions

  • Support YouthWorks participants throughout their work assignment period. Conduct orientation for participants that is comprehensive and unique to their individual site.
  • Work with the Community School Coordinator at the assigned worksite to ensure that assigned YouthWorks participants are assigned appropriate work within the school building, property, or surrounding community that is relative to the Community Schools Strategy.
  • Ensure individual worksite rules (lunch breaks, dress code, internet/cell phone use, smoking, etc.) are shared and enforced appropriately and consistently among all assigned YouthWorks participants. 
  • Provide on-the-job training, supervision, and ongoing support to YouthWorks participants based on respect and trust. 
  • Deliver lessons to youth in classroom according to PTS curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily attendance and ensure that YouthWorks participants complete timesheets daily. Submit timesheets at the end of each week and assist in distributing participant paychecks. 
  • Ensure proper distribution of MTA passes to YouthWorks participants who provide authorization cards.
  • Report any YouthWorks-related problems or incidents immediately to the appropriate authority. Complete and submit incident reports when necessary.
  • Complete the YouthWorks pre- and post-program work readiness assessment for each participant at the worksite.

Experience Requirements

  • Commitment to working with a diverse team on implementing culturally inclusive practices and participating in dialogue on equity in the communities served.
  • Previous experience working with youth required.
  • Professional or educational background in education, social services, youth development, or related field.
  • Familiarity with the Community Schools Strategy and Baltimore City Public Schools preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an out-of-school-time program preferred.
  • Ability to lead and direct youth in a changing environment. 
  • Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, and strong communication skills necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Baltimore city residency strongly preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Independent and reliable mobility to off-site events is required.

Additional Information
This is a part-time, seasonal position for seven weeks in the summer.
Hourly wage is $15.00.
