Community Schools Network Lead

Position Title: Community Schools Network Lead
Department: Youth Initiatives
Reports to: Program Director of Community Schools
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:
The Community Schools Network Lead will support the implementation of the Community Schools Strategy within Family League funded Community Schools and Out of School Time Programs. The Network Lead will support a network of schools including the lead agency and after-school programs connected to each of those schools. The Network Lead will ensure partners are working toward identified outcomes by supporting the implementation of best practices, providing on site coaching, feedback on strategies and utilizing Family League developed evaluation tools to assess needs at each program.

Essential Functions

  • Support network of identified Community Schools in implementing identified strategies and outcomes 
  • Ensure funded partners are meeting requirements in scope of work and providing support when challenges arise
  • Provide onsite coaching and technical assistance to Community School Coordinators and Out of School Time Site Directors using best practices and tools 
  • Participate and support the Community School Planning Team at 21st Century School sites
  • Increase implementation of strategies to improve quality within Community Schools and Out of School Time Programs
  • Coordinate with Program Manager of Professional Development to support professional development offerings based on local and national best practices
  • Work closely with Project Coordinator of Quality Improvement to develop strategies and best practices for implementing sustainable quality models in Out of School Time programs.
  • Use Family League developed site visit, observation and quality tools to identify needed resources and supports
  • Provide data related to needs to the Initiative Leadership to develop technical assistance/coaching support plans for school teams including school leadership and funded partners
  • Review monthly reports from Community School Coordinators and after-school programs for accuracy, completion and quality
  • Notify appropriate people when concerns arise.
  • Identify themes around partnerships and strategies in order to share best practices across the network
  • Identify success stories to share in program reports, Family League website, and social media
  • Support implementation of monthly Community School Coordinator network meetings and quarterly cohort meetings
  • Support implementation of YPQA external assessments in Out of School Time programming

Other Functions

  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
  • Represent Family League at local and national meetings and conferences
  • Assist in the coordination of presentations and visits for local and national stakeholders
  • Support the completion of grant reports pertaining to Community Schools and Out of School Time programming
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director of Community Schools

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Commitment to working with a diverse team on implementing culturally inclusive practices and participating in dialogue on equity in the communities served.
  • Must possess vast knowledge and understanding of the Community & School Engagement Strategy and Out of School Time programming, preferably in Baltimore City.
  • A minimum of five years of experience with public education, Community Schools, after-school or summer youth programs; at least three in a leadership role
  • Familiarity with Weikart Centerís Youth Program Quality Assessment preferred
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) and Bachelorís degree in education, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills and a proven track record of providing excellent customer service. 
  • Excellent technology skills including all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook), internet use, as well as database experience.
  • Ability to be focused and detailed, meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks and work as part of a team
  • Must be a team player who is motivated by working in a collaborative environment, yet able to work independently and show a high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for Family Leagueís mission and commitment to working collaboratively 
  • Valid Driverís License and access to a vehicle daily
  • Baltimore City residency is strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to travel to school and after school sites throughout Baltimore City. It is expected that the Program Manager will spend at least 40% of the work week traveling. Occasional travel outside Baltimore will be required in addition to some out of town, overnight travel.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand for periods greater than 6 hours at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to drive and personal access to reliable transportation is a requirement of the position.

Additional Information
This position is eligible for telework and/or compressed work week [after 90 days of employment].
This position qualifies for a cell phone stipend in the amount of $60/month.
Annual salary is $60,000.
