Senior Director of Grants & Contracts

Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Grants & Contracts has primary responsibility and accountability for decisions related to contracts and other awards, partner relations and cross functional organizational giving. As such, the Senior Director is responsible for managing and facilitating all administrative and compliance functions related to funds awarded to Family League and the contractual administration with its funded partners. These functions include funder compliance, procurement, contract administration, and partner relationships. The Senior Director will lead an interdisciplinary approach to building and maintaining strong partnerships with funders and funded partner organizations, and those seeking funding to ensure community partners perform to meet the goals of their awards. The Senior Director of Grants & Contracts will be active member of Family League’s leadership team.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a team of Partnership professionals to ensure high quality service-related award administration and funded partnership relations. 
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all Family League initiatives and partnerships related to its funders and funded partner organizations.  
  • Develop professional working relationships with a range of stakeholders both within and outside of Family League on all matters related to the administration of grants and contracts. 
  • Implement, with efficiency and accuracy, standard operating procedures for all activities involved with the administration and compliance functions of Funded Partnership activities. 
  • Through Family League’s grants management system (GMS), manage timely development and processing of Family League contracts with funded partner organizations.  
  • Review and negotiate contractual requirements of awards and funded partnerships on behalf of Family League, in accordance with established procedures. 
  • Maintain quality control of all contracts to ensure they adhere to Family League’s standard terms, conditions, and applicable regulations as well as the requirements of specific funders and initiative expectations.  
  • In partnership with the CFO and the Director of Finance, manage the due diligence monitoring activities of Family League’s funding organizations. 
  • In partnership with the Director of Finance, manage the procurement processes resulting from funds granted to Family League. 
  • With the Partnership Managers and Partnership Associate, manage custody of awards and contract documentation, contract renewal and close-out procedures as applicable with all Family League funders and funded partners. 
  • Keep the Chief Financial Officer informed of contract administration, compliance, and procurement activity; submit board status reports representative of Funded Partnership activities.  
  • Respond to requests for documentation and/or information from various sources, including but not limited to funding organizations, the Board of Directors, funded partner organizations, community groups, individual stakeholders, and those seeking funding from Family League.
  • Provide active and person-centered supervision to all assigned employees.

 Other Functions

  • As needed, work with the Partnership Managers to identify and facilitate resources to meet technical assistance needs of funded partners.  
  • Provide technical assistance to Family League staff and partner agencies around the Family League’s contract terms, conditions, and applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Financial Officer. 

 Education & Experience Requirements

  • Commitment to working with a diverse team on implementing culturally inclusive practices and participating in dialogue on equity in the communities served.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field required; advanced degree in business, law, nonprofit management, or related field a plus.
  • Expertise in grants administration, contract management, and procurement oversight required.
  • A minimum of five years in the contract administration field with exceptionally strong organizational, administrative and analytical skills required. 
  • Ability to recognize and be responsive to a wide variety of customer/client needs at all levels.
  • Demonstrated excellence in supportive and accountable staff supervision
  • Strong familiarity with government and foundation contract, grant proposal and reporting processes
  • Familiarity with public and private funding landscapes in Baltimore City and State of Maryland
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, database, and calendaring software. Strong aptitude for learning new software programs 
  • Ability to be focused and detailed, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications; with a focus on strong writing, proofreading and copy-editing skills 
  • Ability to work in a team environment yet be self-directed
  • Strong commitment to the vision and mission of Family League.
  • Baltimore City residency required within 90 days of hire.

Travel Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are occasionally required to attend meetings and events outside the office, throughout Baltimore City and the state of Maryland. Independent, reliable mobility to these events is required.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Information 
This position is eligible for telework and/or compressed workweek benefits [after 90 days of employment].
This position qualifies for a cell phone stipend in the amount of $60/month.
Annual salary is $95,000.
